Black Friday…you either love it or hate it. Me, I could care less since the best way to shop is online in my jammies. BUT, the Hubs loves it. We’ll be married 11 years tomorrow and he attacks Black Friday like a strategic planner. He loves getting up early (as in 1-2 am) hitting the shops, bringing a load home, and heading out for more. I’ve always had a hot breakfast ready for him when he made his final return. In a way, it’s rather like our own version of Santa and Mrs. Claus. (As I sit here, I’m even wearing my fuzzy red robe!)
This year, however, there is no Black Friday shopping frenzy. He started a new job at the Post Office this month, and he’s working 14-hour days, 7 day a week. And the bulk of the packages and Christmas cards hasn’t even hit yet! He went to bed last night a little dazed, muttering something about not being able to do any shopping today.
There’s another ‘first’ in our home this year. It will be our first year that the Lad won’t have a Christmas break. With his full time job in Charlotte, we’re not sure what, if any, time he’ll get off. So, my house will be empty and preparations for the holidays just don’t feel the same. His Lady is going home for two weeks after finals, too, so he’ll really be all alone as we get closer to Christmas. I can see I’ll be making a few trips to Charlotte in December, just so we can be together.
Wishing you a very joyful start to your holiday season!
