What do horses and mosaics have in common?

While in Casal Velino,  we took a side trip to Pompeii. This was a 2 1/2 hour drive from where we were staying, but Wow! was it worth it.  I was surprised by how the size of the city.  At 170 acres, it was much larger than I thought it was.  Pompeii was buried under 13-20 feet of ash from Mt. Vesuvius in 79 AD (CE). The ruins of Pompeii were discovered in 1748, and excavations began in 1764. 

Pompeii was buried under ash for almost 2000 and the artifacts were quite well preserved due to lack of air and moisture. The mosaics and frescoes on the walls were astounding, though I hear they’re even better preserved at nearby Herculaneum, which was buried under mud.

1. Stamp image in Tuxedo Black onto Layer 4. Color with Blends: Dark & Light Crumb Cake, Light Mint Macaron, Dark Basic Black, Dark and Light Old Olive, and the Color Lifter.  Adhere Layers 3 & 4. 
2. Stamp sentiment in Tuxedo Black onto Base. 
3. Adhere  Layers 1-2 and add to Base.  Add ovals with dimensionals. ​
