Let’s face it, the Simply Shammy is the best thing ever when it comes to cleaning your stamps. Or your hands. Or your work space. I absolutely love it! And when I heard that people were keeping damp shammy’s in Clear Mount Stamp Cases, I thought brilliant. Until I remembered, I live in the South and any thing left wet in the heat will mildew in a milli-second. So this winter, keeping a damp shammy in a case in the craft room was great. And then, we had a few warm days. As we said in the early 80s, “Gag me with a spoon.” I tried everything. I soaked it in a bit of soapy water like I do to clean it. I tried using Dawn instead of my mild soap. I tried washing it in a load of jeans (no fabric softener, please). Nothing worked. I had two simply stinky shammies! And then I thought…let’s at a bit of white vinegar to the dish water. If it works for a load of towels, it should work for the shammies, right? And if it ruins them, well, I was going to buy two more anyway.
It worked! I have two very stained shammies but they don’t smell like mildew anymore. Simply wonderful! Go ahead…give it a try! You’ll be glad you did!
