The color I once hated

When I joined Stampin’ Up! ,  I absolute hated Calyspo Coral!  I really, really did.  It seemed like it was in every stack of Designer Series Paper, including thefree Sale-a-Bration paper and I couldn’t get away from it.  What I couldn’t understand at the time, was why everyone was so in love with it!  Give me the greens and blues and even the pinks any day, but get rid of that Calyspo Coral!

Times change, and apparently so do my color choices.  I find myself reaching for Calyspo Coral! not out of desperation, but like an old friend.  It’s not red; it’s not pink; and it’s certainly not orange!​   I like that is a shade in between, and can function both on its own, as well as play nice with others.   It may be in theSubtles Collection, but this is one color that can take a stand!

This card happened to be one of the cards we made at the Salt Lake City OnStage in November.  I came across it last night when I was looking for some samples from the Petal Palette Suite, which will be featured in the New Card Club in March.  Thise New Card Club features 8 cards (2 each of 4 designs) that are pre-cut and ready for you to make.  And you can choose to come to my studio on either the last Friday or Saturday of each month, or have the kit delivered right to your door!

Base:  Calypso Coral, 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
Layer 1:  Petal Passion Designer Series Paper,  5 1/2″ x 3 1/2″
Layer 3: Smoky Slate, 4″ x  1/2″
Layer 4: Petal Passion Designer Series Paper,  3 3/4″ x 1/2
Layer 5:  Whisper White Circle, 2 1/4

1. On Layer 5, stamp bird in Calypso Coral and sentiment  in Smoky Slate. 
2. With a Calypso Coral Stampin’ Write Marker, color in some, but not all, of the white flowers on Layer 1.  Add to base. 
3. Add Layer 3 with dimensionals.  Glue Layer 4 to Layer 3. 
4. Add dimensionals to the back of Layer 4 and wind Whisper White Organza ribbon behind the circle.  Add a leaf from the Petal Passion Designer Series Paper, .   Add to card. 
5. Finish by a dding a flower from Petal Passion Designer Series Paper with a glue dot.
