Oh So Succulent

Have you noticed the latest floral trend?  Everywhere you look, succulents abound.  Personally, succulent is pretty near the top of words that shouldn’t be said aloud.  I think it falls right after the word “chipotle”.  Anyway, no matter if you like to say or hear the word or not, succulents are here and they’re hot!

Leave it up to Stampin’ Up! to yet again, be right on trend.  The suite contains the Stamp Set and Thinlets bundle, Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper,  as well as matching ribbon andcardstock pack.  

To get the depth and richness of color on the card stock,  I alternated Tip Top Taupe and Mint Macaron card stock and used my sponge daubers to layer colors of ink.  This adds texture as well as shades of color.  Here are the colors I used for each, in the order the were sponged on:

• Tip Top Taupe layers:  Tip Top Taupe, Mint Macaron, Craft White
• Mint Macaron layers:  Mint Macraon, Craft White

Then, on the tips of each layer, I brushed Calypso Coral ink.  Finally, I finished it off with my Clear Wink of Stella glitter brush.  You can see more details here. 

I also used the Sale-a-bration  Mint Macaron Glimmer Paper and Tip Top Taupe to cut out my “hello”.  I used my Fine Tip Glue Pen to layer them and adhere them to the card.

Base:  Old Olive 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored and folded at 4 1/4″
Layer 1:  Tip Top Taupe 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″
Layer 2:  Succulent Garden 5″ x 3 3/4″
Layer 3:  Succulent Garden 1 7/8″ x 4″
