Retiring InColors – Protect your Investment!

I’m in the last few days of prepping for myStamping at the Beach weekend retreat which starts next Friday.  I also have a very busy weekend this weekend, which doesn’t leave me with a lot of time.  Tomorrow, we have tickets to go see Phantom of the Opera.  We got the tickets for Christmas from my parents and I’ve really been looking forward to it.  This weekend is also 2nd Sunday.  I have my Sweet & Simple Class in my studio at 2 pm, and a Stamping Bee Team Meeting.  It’s going to be a BIG meeting, too!  We have 12 people coming with 10 of us swapping!  

So, with 4 retreat classes, a card class on Sunday , AND a Stamping Bee Team Meeting,  I desperately needed to com up with a quick, Sweet & Simple card for my swap!  We always have a swap theme and this month is flowers.  I have many floral stamp sets, but when I’m in a pinch, I always turn to Stampin’ Up!’s amazing designer series paper.  I had just 10 sheets left of the Petal Garden  6″ x 6″ stack – PEREFECT!  Trim it to 5″ x 3 3/4″,  and then cut at 2″,  flip, and you’ve got a lovely bold pattern and accent piece.  Add a ribbon and a cute punched sentiment  and you’re done!  Once again, it doesn’t have to be complicated to be beautiful.  Sweet & simple wins for me every time. 

It feels good to use up  paper, especially since the designer series paper stacks will be retiring this spring.  I like to get the most out of my collection as I can, to make room for new colors and patterns!  Speaking of which, now is the great time to stock up on the 2016-2018 In Colors before they retire, too.  The ink pads and reinkers are always the first to go once the retirement list is out!  I always buy the reinkers when I buy my ink pads.  Protect your investment and be sure to stock up before​ the retirement list comes out. 

Base:  Sweet Sugarplum, 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, scored at 4 1/4
Layer 1: Basic Black, 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″
Layer 2:  Petal Garden designer series paper, 5″ x 3 3/4″, cut again at 2″
Layer 3:  Sweet Sugar Plum
Layer 4: Old Olive

1. Stamp sentiment in Mememto Black on Layer 4 and punch out with 1 3/8″ Scalloped Punch. 
2. Stamp label outline in Sweet Sugarplum on Layer 3 and punch out with Pretty Label Punch. 
3. Adhere Layers 1 & 2.  Wrap with Old Olive Ribbon and tie a knot.  Adhere to base. 
4. Adhere Layers 3 & 4 and add to base.
