Just Breathe…

It’s true…the sea calls to me.  When I’m weary and emotionally exhausted, I dream of going to the beach.  Not to play in the waves or go swimming, but just to find a quiet spot and rest in the stillness.   To soak up some sun, breathe the salt air, and just breathe. 

Life gets busy and we tend to brush it aside until it consumes us.  Things happen which turn our world upside down and it becomes of matter of survival.  In fact, in times of crisis, I’ve found myself saying, I’m just trying to remember how to breathe.

And so, I fell in love at first sight with this Colorful Seasons Bundle out of the new 2017 catalog.  The sentiment alone would have  convinced me.  And the Adirondack chair thinlit is pretty remarkable.   The sea grass stamp, I borrowed from the High Tide set. 

And what would a beach scene be without a little watercoloring.  Read below for how I colored the image with a clear acrylic block. 

Today’s Tutorial

Base:  Sahara Sand, 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″
Layer 1:  Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper (available June 1) 5 1/4″ x 4″
Layer 2:  Watercolor Paper 5″ x 3 3/4″

  1. Color 1/2 of Block D with a Sahara Sand Stampin’ Write Marker and the other 1/2 with Marina Mist.   Lightly spritz  your water color paper with water, and then spritz the block until the ink begins to blend.  Carefully, but quickly pick up your block and ‘smoosh’ the color down onto the watercolor paper.  Hold until you see the colors swirl and blend on the paper,   Lift the block straight up.  You can wash your block with water or Stampin’ Mist.  Blot any extra ink off your paper. Set aside to dry. 
  2. Adhere layer 1 to the base  and cut your Adirondack chair with the Big Shot. 
  3. When the water color paper is dry, stamp the sentiment in Basic Black and the Sea Grass in Old Olive.  Adhere chair with the Fine Tip Glue Pen.  Tie and knot the ribbon near the bottom of the card. 
  4. Attach final layer to the card base.
