Ice Cream Week Sketch Challenge

Happy Friday!  Every Friday, I post a sketch challenge for all members of my Stamping Bee Team.  It’s just one of the many  fun benefits  that come when you join my Stamping Bee Team!   I thought I’d finish up ice cream week with a trio of ‘sweets’. 

You always see a demonstrator’s finished project.  What you don’t see are all the mistakes and cards that don’t turn out quite the way we planned.  So, I wanted to show you these three and give you the background on how I arrived at my favorite.  (Which one do you think it is?)

I started with this one.  I wanted my Cool Treats ice cream cone to reflect the cones show in the lower layer of Tasty Treats Designer Series Paper.  I stamped the background piece of Whisper White Card Stock with sprinkles and strawberries from the Cool Treats Stamp Set.  The cone is actually a piece of Tasty Treats Paper, cut out with theFrozen Treats die, which also leaves a patterned impression.   The scoops themselves are pretty cool.  Check them out:

I used my aqua painter and brushed some water across a piece of Shimmery White Card Stock.  Then, I stamped my ink colors (from bottom: Wild Wasabi, Watermelon Wonder, Peekaboo Peach, and Pool Party) on the damp paper and let it dry before cutting it out with the die.  The Shimmery White Card Stock holds up well to water coloring, and stamping the ink gave it a softer, more muted  blend.  The shimmer is a bit difficult to see here, but it is lovely in the light. 

  Next, using the popsicle paper, I wanted a larger popsicle  as my focal point.  But it was too small for such a large piece of paper, so I added some background texture using the fun dots found in the Dragonfly Dream Stamp Set.  

You can’t see in the photo because of the light, but I outlined the “You’re” and the shadow on the popsicle with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush for extra sparkle. 

Finally,  I used glossy strawberries and cherries paper and created a scrumptious strawberry ice cream cone.  The darker shadows are again brushed with the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush.

 If you guessed this third card is my favorite, you’re right!  Even though they’re all “sweet”, this is the yummiest.
