Yesterday, I mentioned I’d spent the weekend in Virginia visiting friends. I knew I needed to take a thank you gift, but knowing Steven’s extensive wine knowledge, I wasn’t comfortable taking a bottle of wine. So before I left I spent Thursday night making a set of hostess cards using the Half Full Stamp Set. Knowing they were for a special occasion, I spent more time on them that I might otherwise. The card above, for example, is all heat embossed in copper, and hand colored using Blends markers.
While not all my own designs (thank you Pinterest!), I think they turned out quite well. I packaged them in one of the clear acrylic boxes, wrapped it in ribbon and made a special tag for it. Mary was happy to receive them, and now we’re talking the next time I go to visit actually having a card making class with her friends – and wine, of course!
Today’s Tutorial
Base: Daffodil Delight, 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
Layer 1: Pool Party, 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″
Layer 2: Whisper White, 5″ x 3 3/4″
Layer 1: Pool Party, 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″
Layer 2: Whisper White, 5″ x 3 3/4″
- Stamp bottle images and sentiment in Versamark on Layer 2. Cover all with Copper Embossing Powder. Heat set until all powder melts completely. Color with Blends markers in Pool Party, Daffodil Delight, and Cherry Cobbler.
- Adhere Layers 1 & 2. Wrap edge with Pool Party 3/8″ Shimmer Ribbon. Adhere layers to base.
- Finish by attaching a Pool Party 3/8″ Shimmer Ribbon bow with glue dots.
