Friday Tip of the Week: Background Stamps!

Ok, ok…I know that this week was supposed to be all about the soon-to-be retiring 2017-2019 In Colors.  And it was.  Only, it was really a week of Lemon Lime Twist with a hint of Powder Pink.  Maybe that’s because those are my two favorite colors from that palette!  If you look back over the last two years at all the times of used any of the 2017-2019 In Colors, you’ll see that is indeed the trend.  And I didn’t even like Lemon Lime Twist when it first came out!  Too bright! Too bold! Well guess what peeps, it’s the one I’m going to miss the most.  All I can say is, thank goodness forGranny Apple Green!  

I can’t believe in a week from today, I’ll be waking up in the North Carolina mountains, ready to set up for my Stamping in the Mountains Spring Retreat.  I’ve got my trusty band of set-up helpers who are all arriving with me on Thursday night and while we’ll talk and laugh the night away, you know we’ll be up early, ready to hit the Sunny Rock Cafe for an early morning breakfast, before setting up our TWO huge crafting spaces.  Oh, I wish you could be there with us!!!  

Today’s card is from one of the classes at retreat and features the Buffalo Check Background Stamp and the Thankful Thoughts Stamp Set – in Lemon Lime Twist of course!  Background stamps are the unsung hero of our stamping collection. They offer so much depth, texture, and versatility.  I can’t wait to teach this class on Background Stamping – I’ve got so much to share!

Base: Lemon Lime Twist: 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″
​Layer 1: Night of Navy, 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″ 
Layer 2: Lemon Lime Twist, 5″ x 3 3/4″
Layer 3: Night of Navy, 3 1/8″ x 4 1/8″
Layer 4: Whisper White, 3″ x 4″ 
Layer 5: Night of Navy Scalloped Layering Oval Framelit
Layer 6: Whisper White Layering Oval Framelit

1. Stamp sentiment in Night of Navy onto Layer 6. Adhere to Layer 5 and set aside. 
2. Using your Stamparatus, stamp the Buffalo Check background stamp in Night of Navy onto Layer 4. Adhere to Layer 5. Wrap with Lemon Lime Twist Ombre Ribbon.
3. Adhere Layers 1-4 to Base. 
4. Adhere Ovals to card with dimensionals. 
5. Finish with Lemon Lime Twist Ombre Ribbon bow.
