For a Beautiful Friend

Can it really only be the 8th of January?  We’re only a week into the new year and it feels like we’re already several months in.  Maybe it’s this whopper of a winter storm with it’s frigid temperatures, or maybe it’s just the let down after the holidays.  Whatever it is, it’s certainly played havoc on several of my friends in the last week. I’m so thankful I made extras of this card for a swap I participated in at the end of the year.  I think I’ll send a few out in the mail to lift some spirits.

This card combines a little old and new, by using the Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper from the annual catalog and Beautiful Peacock Stamp Set from the Sale-a-Bration catalog.  I’d been saving the Dapper Denim and Gold Foil striped paper for something special, and when I designed this card, I realized this was it.  The foil adds some texture and richness, along with a little shiny sparkle, that matches the elegance of this graceful peacock.   While it has several layers,  it really was a snap put together.

Time-Saving Tip:   ​If you’re making more than one, be sure to cut and assemble in batches.  It just makes everything go together more smoothly.   Take it from me – I made over 40 of these!

Base: Lemon Lime Twist, 8 1/2′ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
Layer 1: Dapper Denim, 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″
Layer 2:  Very Vanilla , 5″ x 3 3/4″
Layer 3:  Eastern Palace Specialty Paper, Striped Foil, 3 3/4″ x 2 1/2″
Layer 4,  5, & 6:  Eastern Palace banners, 1″ x  2 1/2″; 1″  x 2″; 1″ x 1 1/2″
Layer 7: Dapper Denim,  3 3/4″ x 1/2″
Layer 8: Lemon Lime Twist 1/4″ Ombre Ribbon
Layer 9:  Lemon Lime Twist Layering Circle
Layer 10: Very Vanilla Stitched Shape Circle

1. Stamp peacock tail in Lemon Lime Twist.  Stamp body in Dapper Denim, making sure to align the beak into the flower,  to ensure proper alignment. 
2. Adhere layers  with Snail or Fast Fuse  in the following order:​
   1. ​9 & 10 – set aside
   2. 1 & 2 first; add Layer 3
   3. Adhere banners together and add to base.
   4. Adhere Layer 7 to base, then wrap layer 8 around and attach to the back with glue dots. 
   5. Add to base. 
3. Stamp sentiment in Dapper Denim. 
4. Add circles to card with glue dots. 
5. Send to a friend who needs a little cheering up!  This card is FLAT, so there will be no extra postage!
