Crafty Saturday: Mother's Day Bookmarks - Michelle Zanavich, Making Memories with Michelle

What’s the first thing you do when you get home from vacation? Do you plop on the couch and save unpacking for later? Or do you carry your suitcase straight to the laundry and get to work? Last night, the Lad and I got home from the beach around 5:30. We unpacked the car immediately and he carried everything upstairs, while I quickly sorted through the mail. And what happy mail it was too! There were two registrations for October’s Crafting in the Mountains Retreat, along with lovely cards and notes about how excited they were to come.

Then…it was time for ice cream. The Lad used to work at S&T’s Soda Shop in Pittsboro all through high school and into college. Whenever he’s in town, he stops by to say hello to friends and eat some of the best ice cream around. Since I was still in vacation mode, I splurged and had a Toasted Almond Hot Fudge Sundae. When we got back to the house, he fixed some issues I was having with my TV’s. The Wii needed set up downstairs and the Roku needed set up in the studio. Hooray! I just love that kid!

He had to go back to the mountains this morning. His best friend is graduating and he was going to the ceremony and then celebrating with him and his family this afternoon. I am so very thankful that he got the time off work to vacation with everyone last week. We spent a week making memories and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I do get sad when he goes back home – you’ll hear my voice crack at the beginning of the video today because he had just left. It breaks my heart to say goodbye and I wait impatiently to hear he made it back home. I am so grateful I could craft with you this morning to help keep my mind off him leaving. I have a whole day of self-care planned so I can make it through the rest of my weekend without crying – too much.
