Crafting is more fun with friends

Last week at our 16-card Holiday Catalog Rollout, fellow Stampers with Heart teammate and honorary Stamping Bee , ​Julia Sharpe Fair, brought along a display board of what she’s been working on lately.  I always love seeing Julia’s designs.  Our two styles are quite different from one another, and I’m always WOW’d at how she interprets the same stamp sets!  When I saw her awesome sunset card, I just knew I had to learn how to do that!

So, last night, I grabbed my bag of adhesives and paper snips and set off for Julia’s studio.   After a yummy dinner – because, what’s crafting without food! – we went upstairs to her studio and got to work.  

​We started with a piece of Shimmery White Card Stock, and using some Stamping Sponges,  started layering and blending four different colors of Stampin’ Up! ink:  Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Cherry Cobbler, and Night of Navy.  It was amazing to see the transformation of how those colors blended together.   We began rubbing the sponge in a circular patter, starting ongrid paper first, then moving onto the Shimmery White Card Shimmery White Card Stock  to avoid streaking.  Julia was a bit more successful on the “avoid streaking” part than I was.  I guess that means I need more practice!
