An Awesome Birthday Card

;Twenty two years ago today, the most miraculous and utterly joyful thing happened.  I became a mother to the world’s most awesome son!   For the last 22 years, my life has been full of Thomas Trains and Hot Wheels cars, BB Guns and Bows and Arrows,  video games and electric guitars.  And I think he’s owned more cars in the last 6 years than I have in my whole life!  You know what? I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Through all the ups and downs of parenting you come to realize  it gets harder as they get older, not easier.  But through it all, one thing remains the same; I love my son with my whole heart.  He bring such joy to  everyone .  He has a big heart and is living life to the fullest.  He has big dreams and is learning who he is, what he wants, and discovering that to be truly happy in life, you have to remain true to yourself. 

I’m missing him something fierce today.  But he told me yesterday he’ll be home for the weekend.   And that is the best present I could ask for!

Happy birthday, Nathaniel Thomas.  I love you and I am so proud of the man you’re becoming!

You know I love this kid because I used 3 stamp sets and 2 coloring techniques on a single card!  If that isn’t love, I don’t know what is! 

Base:  Whisper White Thick Cardstock, 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
Layer 1:  Basic Black, 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″
Layer 2:  Bubbles & Fizz Designer Series Paper (Sale-a-Bration!)
Layer 3:  Basic Black, 4″ x 3″
Layer 4:  Whisper White, 3 7/8″ x 2 7/8″
Scrap of Whisper White

1. Stamp image on scrap of Whisper White with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  Color with Bermuda Bay and Crumb Cake Blends.  Fussy cut carefully and set aside. 
2. Using your Stampin’ Write Markers (NOT BLENDS) color 1/2 of your “D” Block with Daffodil Delight and the other 1/2 with Calypso Coral.  Spritz a few times with water from your  Stampin’ Spritzer and quickly “smoosh’ it onto Layer 4.  Press gently and watch the ink swirl onto the paper.  Hold it there a few minutes to let paper absorb ink and lift off.  Dry with heat  tool on lowest setting.   
3. Stamp  sunbursts in Daffodil Delight onto Layer 4.
4. Sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink onto Layer 4.
5. Adhere all layers except guitar directly to card.  Add guitar with mini dimensionals. 
6. Finish with Glitter Enamel Dots.
7. Wait for son to come home for the weekend because you didn’t get the card made in time to send it for his birthday!
