We had chili for dinner, and everyone brought cookies to nibble on. The house smelled of hot cidre and there was cranberry sparkline wine. We played two rounds of Stampin’ Up! color bingo, interspersed with 2 make-n-takes. I really wanted to do something other than make cards, so we made two holiday paper crafts.
First, we made vellum luminarias that you can see displayed above on my mantle. We used the Gift Bag Punch Board. No one had used it before and it was a big success. I think the best part was getting to make something so cute out of vellum. They were suprised that, although it looks delicate, the Holiday Fancy Foil Designer Vellum was surprisingly sturdy and held up well to the punch board.
Next, I had a treat bag decorating contest. I had cut a jillion pieces from the Snow Place bundle and provided all the inks, embellishments, Sketched Dots Tag a Bag Gift bags, – everything the could need to make their own creation. Everyone seemed were hesitant at first, because I wasn’t showing them what to do, but then they got to work. It was so SILENT! But everyone of them was a winner! And they all received a 4-pack of assorted Christmas cards as their “prize”.
Before the party, I was worried because I had four last minute cancellations. Although our numbers were smaller than I’d anticipated, we had fun and maybe more will come next time. And I had a blast spoiling those that did attend.
